Chlorine is a gas at room temperature and pressure and is soluble in water. Chlorine hydrolyses with water to form hypochlorous acid and hydrochloric acid according to the following equation:
Cl2 + H2O → HOCl + HCl
Sodium Hypochlorite reacts with water as follows:
2NaOCl + H2O → NaOH + NaCl

This hydrolysis feature makes chlorine very suitable for water disinfection applications where turbulence is present, as chlorine is not present in water as a dissolved gas like chlorine dioxide or ozone.

Chlorine dosing systems are one of the most common systems used for disinfection. In addition to its permanent effect, the chlorine dosing system is one of the most economical methods. Chlorine dosing units are used to oxidize substances such as nitrite, iron, manganese in water and disinfect impurities such as bacteria and viruses.

On / Off Controlled Dosing Systems

In these systems, dosing is adjusted manually. The amount of chemical to be dosed is adjusted by the stroke value on the pump. As with other dosage pumps, many different fluids can be dosed with these pumps.

ORP Controlled Dosing Systems

ORP controlled systems measure the chemical dosage by measuring the number of chemicals in the water. It stops the dosage or continues dosing by measuring the amount of chemical set. Depending on the set inlet and outlet pH values, chemical dosing starts or stops dosing automatically. In these models, apart from the dosing pump and control panel, there are electrodes (probe) and an analyzer for measurement.

It provides dosing opportunities according to the amount of flowing water inflow control dosing pumps. The meter measures the passing fluid and sends a pulse to the pump, and the pump doses the desired chemical.

AUTOMATIC/SEMIAUTOMATIC CHLORINE DOSING IN DRINKING WATER

Safe drinking water supplies are critical to our health and well-being. Untreated source of water such as stream, bores, dam, and rainwater tank can contain harmful micro-organism that causes serious illness and many cases death.

For more than 100 years chlorine used around the world to disinfect drinking water supplies. As a result, many borne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid have been effectively controlled.

Today the process used for mixing chlorine in drinking water is not calibrated, hence more, less, not properly dilute chlorine mix in water.

Now we design a safe, easy, and calibrated Automatic Chlorine Dosing Unit for drinking water.

Chlorine control system

CONTAINS: Dosing pump, tank for chlorine mixture, NRV, Foot valve, Teflon tubing, Flowmeter, Flow sensor, Automatic/Manual starter, etc. material used to design chlorine control system.

ELECTRONICS DOSING PUMP: Reliable and maintenance-free solenoid actuated diaphragm pump. The pump is solenoid driven and controlled by stroke frequency.

Control panel: Siemens gray color coated IP protected automatic control panel provided with necessary switchgear, controller, ON/OFF push button, LED indicator.

FLOW METER CUM TOTALISER:

MAGNETIC WATER FLOW SENSOR:To detect water flow. Max Switching Voltage: 220Vac. Installation Mode: Vertical Or Horizontal (With the symbols of the direction of flow on item) Max switching current: 3.0 A.

PROCESS:Unit contain a tank in which 30 liter water and 1 Kg power chlorine (calcium hypo chlorite) or 1 liter liquid Chlorine (Sodium hypo chlorite) mix properly. Unit detects flow of water in pipe line and automatically starts chlorine dosing in water flow pipe line. When water flow stop unit also stop dosing.

This process can also be done manually by pushing the ON button of the Chlorine Dosing Unit.

Unit calibrated as per water flow rate, hence no extra or no less chlorine should be released. You get an accurate ( – 5%) a percentage of chlorine in Drinking Water.

Application: Ruler and municipal drinking water supply scheme, water treatment, petrochemical, sewage treatment, food, paper, etc.

The unit consists of a dosing pump, a control cabinet, an injection valve, and a container for the chemical. The container is equipped with a low-level alarm that stops the pump in case the chemical runs out, a suction valve, and a manual agitator. All components are mounted on a stable steel frame for easy installation.

The most common application is that the dosing unit is being used to chlorinate freshwater, chlorinate evaporated water or bunker water, on its way to freshwater holding tank, and to re-chlorinate water before it is distributed. The prechlorination systems are normally controlled by flow meters in bunker water flow lines.
